Student Grants for MacPhee House

 

Supervisor/Tourism Counsellor       MacPhee House

 

This student will be partially responsible for the supervision of staff and daily operations at the MacPhee House and area.  The Supervisor, in consultation with the project co-ordinators as required, would handle issues that arise.  As well, the Supervisor will help determine scheduling of students and payroll.  Employment and tourism statistics will be collated and disseminated to the appropriate authorities as required. Basic office procedures would be followed. Excellent public relation skills will be demonstrated.The student will ensure basic cleanliness of the facility and grounds. In the absence of the Museum Interpretor, the student will conduct museum tours.

 

In the job as Tourism Counsellor, the student would research and provide tourist information regarding the community, county, province and region.  Our regional tourist association, DEANS, will spearhead tourism training. Excellent public relation skills would be demonstrated. Basic office procedures would be followed. Organization and participation in cultural events is expected.

 

Dates:  June 30-Aug. 26, 2017 (1 training day before opening of VIC may be required.)

30 hours/week, $10.85/hour

Possible shift work over 7 days/week

*Applicant must be a student aged 15-30 years.

A large part of this position would be in the planning, organizing and execution of community and tourist events at the MacPhee House, e.g. concerts, jam sessions, skills/heritage demonstrations and activities, children and adult games and activities, Seaside Festival float, etc.  In the absence of the Museum Interpretor, the student will conduct museum tours.
